There's still a couple of upcoming PS4 games that should be on your radar. The truth is, developers are largely prioritising upcoming PS5 games these days, given that we're now four years into the new generation. But if you're still rocking a PS4 there are a few games coming in 2024 that are worth your time and attention, from massive RPGs like Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth to great metroidvanias like Ultros.

Ubisoft is bringing the Prince of Persia back to life in 2024. No, we're not talking about the MIA Sands of Time remake, but rather the exceptionally fun metroidvania The Lost Crown. This is one of our most anticipated upcoming Ubisoft games of the year, smartly evolving the popular genre while offering no end of challenging encounters to test your reactions. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is set to launch on January 18, and it's the first must-play game of 2024.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is undoubtedly one of the most ridiculous adventures of 2024. The new Yakuza game is set to bring Ichiban Kasuga together with Kazuma Kiryu, with the duo heading out of Japan for the very first time for a story which explores life, death, and revenge. The new Hawaii setting looks gorgeous, and packed with the sort of silly distractions and opportunities for outrageous combat scenarios that we've come to love from this franchise.

Atlus is remaking one of the best PS2 games of all-time in Persona 3 Reload, a generous reimagining of a legendary RPG. Whether you played it the first time around or just want to see what all the fuss is about, Persona 3 Reload will see you take on the role of a high school student who soon discovers the power to summon powerful Personas – manifestations of the inner-spirit. Expect a faithful remake of the original story, a visual overhaul, and some key quality of life improvements.

Ultros sees developer Hadoque merging the metroidvania style with some smart roguelike sensibilities, an adventure which loops around a cosmic uterus. To escape the cycle you'll need to investigate a weird and off-kilter world, battle dangerous creatures and harvest their organs for resources, and indulge in a little gardening to unlock new areas of the map. Ultros is a strange, confident game that has impressed at every opportunity we've had to play it so far. 

Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered

This delightful remastered collection contains the original three Tomb Raider adventures, giving you an opportunity to fall back in love with Lara Croft all over again. This package boasts upgraded graphics, as well as the option to switch back to the original polygon look at any time, making this one of the best ways to experience some of the best PS1 games around.

This interactive adventure will see you heading out on the road to discover the secrets of your family's past. You'll explore beautiful environments in first-person, rooting through old belongings, and then taking what you learned into expansive, branching conversations presented as gorgeous hand-crafted cutscenes. Open Roads looks like a delight that'll almost certainly tug at your heartstrings. 

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster

Dark Forces is one of the best Star Wars games of all-time, and developer Nightdive Studios – hot off of its stunning remake of System Shock – is hard at work on a long-overdue remaster of the iconic FPS. Originally released in 1996, Star Wars: Dark Forces is set around the original film, following the mercenary Kyle Katarn as he helps the Rebel Alliance discover the Galactic Empire's biggest secrets. While it isn't canon to the Star Wars timeline anymore, it is still an iconic adventure.

The Outlast Trials is one of our most anticipated upcoming horror games of 2024. A first-person survival game which serves as a prequel to its two predecessors, featuring mysterious cold war experiments. If you're looking for something to play with your friends, The Outlast Trials also supports four-player co-op – as a group, you'll need to complete tasks while trying to circumvent some disgustingly monstrous enemies. It looks like a riot, and we can't wait to see more of it in action.
